On Lovely Postcard-sized Abstract Paintings of the Ocean

Saturday, July 14, 2018

I've been following @artisticmoods on instagram for a while now, and came across one of her posts, in which @papertint was hosting a giveaway for her art challenge, #100daysofpapertint.

Larisa (@papertint !) challenged herself to paint one abstract postcard sized painting of the ocean for a hundred days, in which she would then share to instagram, and then those who would leave a comment on the post or tag a friend would have the chance to win it! She sent them all over the world, and I'm truly lucky to be one of the 100!

It took a while for me to receive it. I would check my mailbox everyday. It's rare for me to get mail because a) no one really writes anymore b) I live in the boundary of two cities, so I'm afraid the mailman could get confused. But alas, it arrived right before I left for my England trip.

Papertint's lovely feed!

Please do check out her works through her Instagram! She's also in the process of making a book out of her 100 day challenge. Do sign up through her site for more details and for freebies as well.

I was in no way influenced to write this post. I merely just wanted to share my joy in winning!! a piece of art from the other side of the globe, and to help inspire others as well, as it has inspired me. :-) I'm the same in wanting to challenge myself with art everyday. Now that I've come back from my trip, and that I've received this piece, I am more than ready to continue making art, however small or big it is.

This piece is now hanging out with me on my office board!

Have a great day, dear reader!

  1. These looks amazing! I never really challenged myself to paint or write for consecutive days since I find that the outcomes look similar. Umiikot lang yung lahat ng gawa ko sa iisang point and it's not really broadening the creativity I think (know) I have.

    1. Haha, I think it's really hard to do something for consecutive days without fail because it requires a lot of commitment. I admire people who are able to do these kinds of things! It makes them think outside of the box as well and try out new things to improve their craft. But then again, there's also those who prefer to create only when inspiration strikes them, and that's perfectly fine too, no pressure. :D
