2 0 1 7

It's the last day of 2017, it's lunch time, and I only got to sit down and write right now. I've been meaning to write down my thoughts lately even though my time has been consumed with meeting dear people and doing my chores, but I'm glad I have time now!

It's very cliche to say that the year has had its ups and downs, but no words could be truer than that. I think there are many things, or at least something that we should learn from each year that comes to pass.

Island Weekend

I went to Catanduanes island over the weekend. My grandparents were born and raised on this island which is why my parents and I get to visit occasionally. Back when I was still small though, we would visit almost every summer. I guess this is why I have become fond of going here even if I'm already in my early adult years.

I believe I've made a few posts on why I love Catanduanes a few years back here on this blog, but I never really did write a full blown post about my trip. My previous trips were longer though, spanning from four days to a week, but since I started working, I could only afford to visit over the weekend, which consisted of Friday - Sunday.

Holiday Recap

In August alone we had the chance to experience two holidays, and another on the first of September. For me, holidays are truly something to look forward to, whether it may be spent just resting at home or meeting with friends.

Feedback is A Gift

Indeed, feedback is a gift, but is it still one even when it could be negative?

I'VE WATCHED: Films Lately

Simply a list of films I've watched recently and would like to share my thoughts about. You can see other films I've watched and recommended here! This is a way for me to track what I watch, and a way for me to share and recommend films you might want to watch as well.

Slowing Down

The concept of slowness is often frowned upon. But I'd like to take a stand to say that this is exactly what we are all missing.

On Being An Early Morning Person

I chose this photo because it reminds me of that one week I spent in Catanduanes wherein I consistently woke up at 5AM without much struggles, and I got to watch the sun rise everyday.

Whenever I hear the word "morning", I would often associate it with "early". Waking up early has always been a struggle for me especially because I am fond of staying up late. It's not that I have anything better to do at night, but even before when I was younger, there was that thrill of staying up late and sleeping whenever I want to. It's only now that I am learning to love mornings and having an early start.

Things to do During the Commute

Also known as: How To Survive Traffic. It's inevitable; commuting is a part of one's everyday life when they enter the workforce. Unless you drive. But then I find that commuting can save more money and can be less stressful since there's a driver and all you have to do is sit there. I have to admit though, just sitting there consumes a lot of time. Here are some things I do to make sure I don't get bored while commuting.

First Month of Bullet Journaling

I had to wait for the end of the month before I could post this. I wanted to try it out for a whole month so that I could present it all in one entry. I'm thinking I'll be doing this every month end, so that I could share my experiences, and insights as I go through my bullet journaling journey.

Post-Grad Life: Having A Liberal Arts Degree

I realized I am writing this eight months after my college graduation. There is much to say about this, so this is going to be a long post. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, and I simply would like to write about people's perceptions on having a liberal arts degree and being a psychology major.

Online Shopping at Shopee

Let me tell you something about myself: I've never done online shopping before. This is about to change though, as I was introduced to an online shopping app called Shopee. I attended one of their events weeks before, although I was not a buyer or user of the app. It was only after the event that I was convinced to join, so I made an account.

I'VE WATCHED: My Favorite Office Dramas

I have a list of my finished and ongoing Korean dramas found here, although I want to talk about office dramas in a more in-depth manner, and why I like them. Of course not everything we see in TV shows are automatically representative of what truly happens in real life, but watching comical scenes and makjang(1) instances are a nice break from what we have to deal with everyday.

10 Important Things I learned While Job Hunting

This post has been sitting around in my drafts for the longest time. I'm glad I'm able to post it this time around, though, because I kept adding and subtracting points until I have come up with a list that I am fully satisfied with. Stick around to read my thoughts!

Shopee to do: Bullet Journaling Workshop

Last June 3 I went to a bullet journaling workshop together with my best college buddies. I've been wanting to stay consistent with journaling, so I figured that this may be the best opportunity to do so.

The God Squad

I came back from a whole week up in the City of Pines, known as Baguio City. But then more than being the summer capital, more than it being known as the home for Pine trees here in the Philippines, there will always be one special place in Baguio that would strike a cord in my heart, and that would be in the Philippine Baptist Theological Seminary (PBTS).

Peony, Peach, and my Favorite Eyebrow Pencil

Welcome to my second beauty post! If you check out my 'beauty' label on this post, the only entry I have would be about this Natural Charcoal Pack. Although I'd like to announce a disclaimer that this is not a beauty blog and my main aim here simply is to take care of my skin properly. And probably to talk about some few makeup products that I like, here and there. I am here to talk about my thoughts.

I have this invisible rule that I /try/ to follow in almost anything I do, in which less is more. This applies to the stuff that I put on my face, as well. I merely just wanted to share with you my two cents on what I use.

I'VE WATCHED: Minimalism 2015 Documentary

I personally like the minimalist style, as it looks clean and simple, which is why I took an interest in learning more about minimalism. I recently got to watch the documentary on Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things by The Minimalists. It contains many different interviews showcasing their perspectives in why they chose to pursue the minimalist lifestyle.

I'd like to share my thoughts and some takeaways I got from watching this documentary. I personally think that a documentary is successful and meaningful if it provokes thought and makes you ask yourself the right questions.

Cafe IF in BF Presidents Avenue

I'm always going to remember Cafe IF for many reasons. Some of the reasons would be that this was where I've bonded with good friends, where we held our Youth Fellowship meetings, and where I spent a considerable amount of alone time.

As this cafe is only around five minutes walk from my dad's clinic, I would frequently go there to just spend time alone on my laptop, with a book, or writing in a notebook while enjoying the smoothie/coffee I ordered. I find that the faux vines are quite soothing, and I like how the occasional kpop/acoustic songs just flow out of the speakers as if it were part of one's daily life soundtrack.

I was alone today, so I just had a kiwi smoothie. If I was with someone, usually we'd order their bingsu.

YOUTUBE FEATURE: Aimeezingdays

My sister vlogs! She vlogs mostly about her travels in Europe and US. This for her is her platform and avenue to document her travels so that she can share it with family and friends. I'm supportive of her and I help her in promoting it even if at first she was shy about it. Haha!

I'm not an avid youtuber who watches and subscribes to many channels, but I do watch videos from time to time, or when my friends recommend me to watch a vlog. I don't even know much vloggers. But then I do find that making vlogs is a good way to document and to simply just have fun. It's also nice to look back at how travels went, especially the highlights.

Her vlog channel is named "Aimeezingdays" wherein she combined her name "Aimee", "amazing", and "days".

Do drop by and watch her videos! Here's her latest one when she went to Canterbury:

She is aimeezingdays for her Twitter, Instagram, and Gmail accounts. :-)

Of Dreams and Hobbies

My dad was cleaning one time and he brought out his old bowling trophies. I did not know that he was into bowling until he showed the trophies to me. Sometimes there are things about our parents that we don't really know about; it may be a certain hobby that they used to enjoy when they were younger, or a certain band they used to listen to everyday. Somehow it makes you feel like you can relate with them more in this way, because they were once your age and they had interests and hobbies.

He also found his old bowling ball and decided to take me to the bowling alley in SM Southmall! Please note that I am in no way a bowling expert of any sort; I've gone bowling with my high school friends a couple of times. But really, all I could remember was that the ball was so heavy, I was certain that the floor might crack with the way I threw it, and that my hand and forearm would hurt the next day.

It's a bright orange! I have love-hate relationship with orange. I think I will talk about it in a separate post.

Farmer's Orchard in BF Aguirre

My friend, Sher from Sher My Thoughts, and I were looking for a good place to eat lunch in BF Aguirre, so I asked her for her personal criteria. She came up with two: healthy and affordable. This was how we ended up in Farmer's Orchard, a cafe which serves fresh fruit juices together with light meals.

Cafe L'usine in BF Elizalde

I shall go ahead and say that I'm not really a huge fan of coffee. I mean, it's alright, but I don't need it in my system 24/7. Probably the first stores that would come to mind would be Starbucks and The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. But then after visiting L'usine, I was pleasantly surprised that there really is more to coffee. I just wanted to share mainly about my experience here.
